My photography practice focuses on photo-journalistic observations of people, as well as in-studio family & brand centric photoshoots. I document the essence and culture of places I've traveled to, and I capture the subtle details & beauty of ordinary things.
My photography journey didn't start when I was a child. It didn't start with a family member handing down an old camera, or having a relative introduce me to the hobby.
It started about 12 years ago, during a camping trip, on the back of a canoe to be exact. My husband Ricardo was fishing and I was tinkering around with my dinky Canon PowerShot ELPH (which I guess wasn't terrible at the time). Sitting in observation, in the middle of Arrowhead Lake, in Northern Ontario, capturing the nature around me.

As a child, my summers were spent north of the city at my grandparents farmhouse, exploring their 10 acres of land, playing hide and seek in the greenhouses, our family's business. Being surrounded by lush greenery and flowers is where I developed a deep affinity and appreciation for the natural world, which is clearly reflected in the subjects of my photos.
Throughout my travels I naturally gravitated towards incorporating the documentation of people going about their everyday lives and routines, and from there led me to family portraiture.
I am forever playing and experimenting with light & shadow, detailed macro shots, or framing shapes & colours found in nature, landscapes and architecture to create interesting compositions.
Regardless of what's in front of my lens, I want to create art that fills my cup, and tells stories of the people, places and things that are in them.
